Roosevelt Island neighbors
Find a babysitter—or let nearby families know you’re available.
The Island is a free place for local families and caregivers to find each other, share current availability, and talk directly.
For babysitters and caregivers
- 1
Create your free account
Choose your Roosevelt Island building, or “I live off-island” if you commute here to work.
- 2
List yourself under Childcare
Open Help, which starts on Childcare. Add your rates or usual hours, then turn on Available now for 1, 3, 8, or 24 hours.
- 3
Connect with nearby families
Families can see your live availability, profile, and ratings, then message you directly in the app.
For parents and families
- 1
Join The Island
Accounts keep profiles, messages, reports, and ratings connected to real members instead of anonymous posts.
- 2
Open Help
Or tap Find childcare help at the top of this guide. You’ll see sitters who have marked themselves available right now.
- 3
Check the profile and message
Review their notes and neighbor ratings, then agree on timing, duties, references, and pay directly.
- 4
Leave an honest rating afterward
Ratings stay on the sitter’s profile so the next Roosevelt Island family has more context.
How ratings work
Registered neighbors can leave one rating for someone they have worked with and update it later. After a Help booking is marked complete, both people are prompted to review each other. Ratings are community feedback—not a background check or a guarantee.
A quick safety note
The Island does not employ, screen, or pay caregivers. Families and sitters should check references, discuss expectations, and decide whether to meet first. Scheduling, payment, and the working arrangement stay between them.
