Hi, I remember there was a hotel with a nice rooftop near the Tram / Cornell Tech. I think it was called "Graduate" if my memory serves me right. I was searching for a hotel but it doesn't show up on Google Map. Do you know what's going on? Are they permanently closed?

Someone made this sign on the street. I run at least 2 times a week in the island so I'm sure this is recently made. I wonder who made this and how this system works! I know the full loop of the island is over 6K but I couldn't. find where the starting point of this is, which will be helpful for me

Hi, When I was moving to the island, I was debating between 430 Main and the Octagon (the condo located in the northern part of the island). It was more spacious but not too expensive in comparison with the condos near the subway station. How's life there? Is it too tiring to take the red bus after coming back from manhattan?

I'm new to the RI and shocked by the F/M train
Has this train always been like today? Some part of the escalator (or maybe just elevator) was under construction from this morning but I was able to go to manhattan. But when I wanted to come back to the island, they didn't run the train! It's been a year since I moved to the island. Is this normal?

I finally tried Weee to see if I could cut down on my grocery bills, and honestly, I’m so impressed. Living on the island, grocery runs can be such a chore, but this has been a total lifesaver. The prices are way better than local options, and the delivery is punctual—they always show up right within the window they promise or they will notify in advance otherwise. I was a little nervous about ordering veggies online, but everything has arrived perfectly fresh and crisp so far. For those of you who use it regularly, what are your absolute holy grail items? I’m building my next cart and would love any recommendations!

I love this website but I want to propose an idea for this forum
I can read and write English but I'm not a native English speaker. I'd like this place to be more like relaxing place where I can comfortably read what other moms' saying in my 1st language. I saw the language button at the top-right corner of the website. Could you also put the same button on this Lounge chat and my editing/writing page? I want to write things with my language and when I finish writing, I want to simply translate it to English without visiting Google Translate or Gemini. Just an idea.

Hey moms! I was just thinking about this during my morning rush and wanted to throw it out here in the Lounge Chat. When I’m dropping the kids off or running a quick daycare errand in the morning, my go-to outfit is literally my coziest sweatpants and a baseball cap pulled way down. (Seriously, I’m just repeating the mantra 'Please let no one see me...' the entire time 😂). But then I see some of you gorgeous moms out there who look so put together—like full-on makeup and effortless outfits at 8 AM! It always makes me think, 'Maybe I should start trying a little harder,' but then reality hits, every second counts in the morning, and I just look the other way. 🙈

Actors who could play FDR in a biopic?? Any suggestions my history lovers? Why aren’t there many FDR biopics right now? It’s like the memory of President Roosevelt has diminished since 1945. Nothing major since 1980s even though Roosevelt is the President that served 4 terms and started research on the nuclear bomb. The President that establish social security and minimum wage has been forgotten by the collection western culture… 32nd President of the United States of America from 1933 until his death in 1945 Born: 30 January 1882, Hyde Park, New York Died: 12 April 1945, Warm Springs, Georgia (Aged 63)

Higher priority issues than the tram slowing or red bus
Anticipating downvotes for this, but honestly, there are worse problems on the island than the tram or red bus. These issues feel like a distraction. Who actually lives here and relies on the tram for speed? The F train or ferry are much more accessible and connected to the broader transit network. I get that there’s heritage and nostalgia tied to the tram, especially for older residents. But if you think about it, slower trams just mean more time in the air to enjoy the views. Living here, what worries me more is the decaying and neglected infrastructure, especially in the center of the island. Look at Roosevelt Landings and its stalled facade construction, the state of Motorgate, the promenade with that pier that hasn’t been fixed in six months, the fenced-off ship, the uneven Z-bricks, the general condition of Main Street, the empty retail, and even Blackwell House or the steam plant. We do not seem to have the resources or motivation to care for our heritage with the reverence it all deserves. Oh, and we lack any urgent care. I don’t have a background in resource administration, so I know there’s bureaucratic complexity I’m not privy to. I'm not here to bash or compliment RIOC. I don't have the slightest idea how it all works on the inside. But it feels like we, as residents, need to pick our battles and advocacy. And a faster, more convenient tram for residents? That’s a battle long lost. Would love to hear thoughts, but again, I know this might not be a popular

Assessing veterinary needs on Roosevelt Island Hello! I am a veterinarian and recently became familiar with Roosevelt Island and specifically, the apparent lack of veterinary care. I’m looking into the possibility of opening a veterinary practice on the island in the future, and am trying to collect information and get a feel for what the community needs.
