Roosevelt Island will have a great view of the July 3 parade of Tall Ships coming down the East River from 1 to 3 PM. According to the event organizer Sail4th 250: July 3, 1-3 PM Sail4th 250 Parade of Sail: Class B Tall Ships Class B tall ships from around the world will sail down the East River from Hell Gate Bridge to Gravesend Bay, Brooklyn… On July 4 Sail4th 250 will feature: 9:30am – 2:00pm Hudson River Sail4th 250 Parade of Tall Ships More than 30 tall ships from around the world will sail up the Hudson River from the Verrazzano Bridge to the George Washington Bridge. The Tall Ships coming down the East River on July 3 will not be as tall as the July 4 ships on the Hudson River because they have to be able to sail under th Queensboro Bridge. Do we know whether they will pass through the East Channel (AKA Queens side) or the West Channel (AKA Manhattan side)? According to the map on the official website, they will go through the east, but the Roosevelt Island Bridge might not accommodate all the “Class B Tall Ships.” Will the bridge be lifted for this occasion?
