Roosevelt Island Main Street Zhongzong Noodle Shop Has Been Closed For The Last Several Weeks, Residents Ask If They Will Re-Open?

Several Roosevelt Island residents have recently asked: What has happened to Zhongzhong Noodles, 568 Main St.? Closed for several weeks, no posted explanation. Can you find out? I asked Roosevelt Island Main Street Retail Master Leaseholder Hudson Related: Has Zhongzhong noodles closed for good. They have not been open for several weeks. What happened? Any Roosevelt Island retail update? A spokesperson for Hudson Related replied: It seems the tenant has not opened for a while now, although there is still a lease in place. We’ve been trying to reach them about their extended plans, but with no luck. The Roosevelt Island Main Street Retail Master Lease commercial rent reset with Hudson Related was discussed during the June 18, 2026 Roosevelt Island Operating Corp Real Estate Development Advisory Committee meeting. Retail Master Lease Agreement Commercial Rent ResetDownload Here’s the discussion Responding to a question from RIOC Board Director Dr Michal Melamed if there has been any progress in securing a medical provider for the retail space, RIOC President BJ Jones answered: No, there has not been any progress on medical space. I asked Hudson Related again about it and do so periodically. Also the bank has come up to to me and I reiterated that. What I get from them is that they have found it harder to find a tenant for that or other tenants in general and harder than they expect. Here’s a the Roosevelt Island Main Street Retail Master Lease agreement between RIOC and Hudson Related signed in 2011.

What they could do is sublease spaces as cheap artist spaces. It could put Roosevelt and on the map as a creative location, they would get income from artists and would only benefit the island. There are so many empty spaces here including the bag that would be perfect as subdivided spaces for artists where artists are regeneration always follows

The Island really need s a bank. If you need to make change you have go into one of the stores, and I can imagine they have the same problem as residents.

I agree with Nicole. We have many artists on the island that could benefit from having a space other than their apt to create. I would add the pool area below Island house. What a shame to see it decay. That too can become an art space (small museum, gallery, art school, etc). Many communities around the country offer once a month art walks where the artists open their space to the public. This not only brings people to the island but ensures that these spaces remain to code. Let’s think outside the box and show the world what the vibrant community of RI has to offer. A big thank you RIVAA for all your efforts to support artists and leading the way.

If you check Zhong Zhong Noodles website: https://www.zhongzhong.us/about – you will see that the Roosevelt Island location is noticeably missing.
