The Roosevelt Island East River Keeper Instagram page not only does a fantastic job chronicling the various waterborne traffic passing us here on Roosevelt Island but also watches the sky above us and this morning was a doozy. According to East River Keeper: Well folks, on these posts we’ve seen just about everything float or fly by New York City, now we can add a flying Tesla to the mix… …with a rocket, booster disengagement, Queens’ skyline, and the start of an amazing sunrise in one video. This Tuesday morning at 5:40 am, a @SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket flew behind Long Island City, Queens on its Starlink 10-49 mission. It launched from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station around 5:33 am. Its payload holds 29 Starlink broadband satellites that will join the thousands of others above our heads in their low-earth orbit. Towards the end of the video, you’ll see the booster disengage as the sunrise comes into view. Poof. Then I lost the tin can, as my eye focused on the start of another spectacular sunrise over Astoria, Queens. Priorities.
