If you’re interested in local politics, the Four Freedoms Democratic Club invites you to their annual Roosevelt Island meeting Thursday September 19 at the Good Shepherd Community Center (543 Main Street) beginning at 7 PM. NY State Senator Liz Krueger is the special guest.
According to the Four Freedoms Democratic Club: … our next full club meeting is TOMORROW, Thursday, Sept 17 on Roosevelt Island! We also wanted to share a copy of the Legionnaires’ Outbreak Resolution we will be voting on. Click here to read the resolution. When: Thursday, September 17, at 7 p.m. Location: This meeting will take place in the sanctuary of the Church of the Good Shepherd, located at 543 Main Street on Roosevelt Island. We will vote on a resolution seeking policies and regulations that won’t wait for the next Legionnaires’ outbreak. Click here to read the resolution. This Saturday, Sept. 19, between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. join Four Freedoms at 3rd Ave between 85th and 86th Streets for the annual street fair. We’re still looking for a few volunteers for our booth, so if you have an hour or two to spare, please sign up to help out! It’s a great way to meet neighbors and spread the word about the great work our club does. Sign up here! The club’s Digital Media Committee set up a new page on our website to serve as a resource for FFDC members looking to pitch in for the midterm elections! That page, Election 2026, is a “live” page that will continue to add announcements, events, articles, etc. as we get closer to November. Right now, we’re highlighting our partnership with clubs and organizations across the city to canvass swing districts in New York, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey as part of the Vote Blue Coalition.
