RIVAA Gallery introduces us to the artists painting murals at last Saturday’s wonderful Roosevelt Island Fall For Arts Festival at the Mediation Lawn. According to RIVAA Gallery: Fall for Arts 2026:Meet the Artists Behind the Murals At this year’s Fall for Arts Festival on Roosevelt Island, artists transformed large panels into colorful works inspired by two themes: “Bridges & Connections” and “When I Dream.” Throughout the festival, we spoke with participating artists about the ideas behind their murals and what it was like to create art in a public, community setting. From personal stories and imagined worlds to reflections on connection, community, and the future, each artist brought a unique perspective to the festival’s themes. In the video below, hear directly from the artists about what inspired their work and what the experience of creating alongside other artists and the Roosevelt Island community meant to them. Interviewed muralists: @minhafofa @karramaus @thom.heyer.nyc @hklleeee @toriandersonsart @dra.barbararosas.plastica Vicky Mo @laurenblankstein and @stephanie_herlihy from @transit_thrift Dipa Debnath @tales_o_palomita Chris Alexander @imayanaayo Interviewer: @sophia.vitko Fall for Arts Festival 2026 was presented by RIOC and RIVAA on Roosevelt Island on September 19, 2026 Watch the full video. It was really great to hear the artist talk about their work; their inspiration, their ideas, and whatever else they were able to add to their stories and experiences
