According to the Roosevelt Island Operating Corp (RIOC):
RIOC will be hosting its annual Halloween Extravaganza and Parade on Saturday, October 24th! There will be food, games, music, and a lot of spooky costumes. We hope to see you there! A resident asked why the Halloween Parade is on Saturday October 24 when Halloween is on Saturday October 31 this year? RIOC Assistant Vice President Communications & Government Affairs Bryant Daniels answered: Historically we’ve always held our parade and extravaganza the Saturday before Halloween, even on years when Halloween falls on a Saturday. It gives families a dedicated extra day to celebrate without overloading parents and kids on the actual holiday. The annual Halloween Parade is one of the best days of the year on Roosevelt Island. Here are some scenes from the 2025 Roosevelt Island Halloween Parade.

This parade completely closes down Main Street. This is a terrible idea. RIOC should figure out an alternative. Hopefully there will not be a situation where an emergency vehicle needs access.
